My Transformers collection and why I started this blog.

Hello everyone, I have had this blog site for a few years now and started off with all the best intentions to write a blog post each week about my likes, dislikes and hobbies. This lasted for roughly 3 or 4 weeks. I managed to write a few posts which were mainly about past holidays. I really enjoyed the process and received some nice feedback on the posts I wrote. Then due to laziness and other commitments it got pushed to the back of my mind even though i paid the yearly fee to keep it running.

Anyways, the main reason I set this up was to have place where I could write about and showcase my main passion which is my love for Transformers. I have been a huge Transformers fan for as long as I can remember, the TV series and the 1986 animated movie hold some of my most treasured memories from my childhood. As I got older it all took a back seat to starting into work and trying to be an adult i guess, whilst always having that love and interest in the franchise.

I’m not sure how or what happened but I remember coming across a new version of a toy I had when I was a kid, This was Optimus Prime and what we all know as Masterpiece MP-10. I was amazed by this as I had no idea these figures were being made. This sparked my interest and I started researching and looking into the toy line a bit more even after almost falling off my chair when I saw the price (£220 at the time). After lots of debating I bit the bullet and bought MP-10, and wow I’m so glad I did!

Since then I have been full steam ahead in buying many more Masterpiece figures. I also spent a lot of time collecting the original G1 figures that I had as a kid. This was fascinating as it introduced me to the KO side of toy collecting. I had no idea about the knockoff world and learnt the hard way after purchasing a fake G1 Optimus Prime from China through Ebay. It was a good lesson to learn as it opened up another line of research and intrigue. I also become aware of 3rd party companies making their own versions of what we class as ‘Masterpiece’ figures, plus many other styles and scales. I will go into more detail in other posts about my fanboy love for FansToys and other companies I look to when buying figures.

About a year ago I stumbled across a Youtube video from the Realm of Collectors. This has turned out to be a great discovery because it has lead me to become part of an online community for Transformer and many other toy collecting avenues. Whilst becoming part of the ROC group this then introduced me to other podcasts and toy collecting shows that have truly made my geeky nerdy hobby an absolute joy. Hats off to the ROC, Plastic Fanatics, Shattered Cast Uncut, Nerd Rage Radio (Find them on Youtube), Toy Detox and many more who are all part of the Cool Table Network, go check them all out.

I hope to start write a lot more in the coming months. I have many figures and subjects I would like to write about which I hope is something people will find interesting. I wanted to write a post to get my writing juices flowing again, not that they are that good to start with.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope you found it interesting. Here’s a little video to show some of my collection 🙂

Take care, Sam.
